Barred Island

The Barred Island Preserve is one of the neatest places in Maine. It's easy to miss, very quiet and peaceful, and the terrain is extremely varied and includes dense woods, naturally manicured mossy paths, open sandy beach, and large rocks for the waves to crash against. It makes me feel like I'm in The Lord of the Rings (books or movies). If you've never been, you should go.
