Motif #1, Rockport, MA
Okay, so this isn't a Maine scene, but it's quintessential New England and I had to paint it. Motif #1 is a local icon and the subject of many paintings. In fact, many years ago, my great uncle Joe painted a large, wonderful watercolor of it, which hung in my grandparents' foyer for as long as I can remember. I admired the painting very much, but had no idea where the subject was located. Then one day as I was driving along the North Shore, I found it at last.
